Ixigo, a leading online travel agency in India, on Friday announced a partnership with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to launch metro ticketing on the ixigo Trains app.
This new feature allows users to buy QR-based metro tickets with in-app payments, making travel more efficient and convenient.
With this development, ixigo users can now plan and book entire journeys that include trains, buses, flights, hotels, and now, metro rides on one platform. First-time users booking metro tickets through the app will receive a 100% cashback of up to ₹50 on tickets purchased between 9-11 AM daily.
Dinesh Kumar Kotha, CEO of ixigo Trains & Confirmtkt, emphasized ixigo’s goal to be the most customer-centric travel company. He noted that integrating Delhi Metro with ixigo’s services will help commuters avoid long waits and better plan their journeys.
The partnership aims to create a connected mobility ecosystem, promoting a shift towards digital commuting habits.
Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, stated that the initiative would provide passengers with more flexibility and convenience while encouraging the adoption of digital ticket booking.
Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO & COO of ONDC, explained that the integration of metro ticketing into ixigo represents more than just a convenience; it shows how digital networks can transform urban mobility. He highlighted that public transport is essential for inclusive growth and that ixigo’s quick implementation demonstrates the potential of collaboration between public and private sectors. This effort builds a unified mobility layer in India, enabling commuters to access various modes of transport easily.
The DMRC operates almost 400 km of metro services and is the busiest in India, with over 81 lakh journeys recorded in a single day in August 2025. This integration is part of ixigo’s ongoing strategy to enhance travel options and daily commutes.
Since its launch in 2013, ixigo Trains has introduced numerous features like Travel Guarantee for waitlisted tickets and real-time train status updates. Its AI-powered voice assistant and meal pre-order service also enhance user experience, making travel more enjoyable and efficient.
