UP is deciding the direction of country’s development today: PM Modi

Azamgarh, March 10

Prime Minister Narendra Mod,i on Sunday, said that in the past, Uttar Pradesh used to decide the politics of the country, but today it is deciding the direction of the country’s development.

Addressing a public meeting in Manduri, PM Modi said: “Ever since the double engine government came to power in the state, both the picture and destiny of UP have changed. UP is among the best performing states in implementing the Centre’s schemes. It is also one of the frontline states within the country.”

Earlier, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 782 development projects worth Rs 34,700 crore. This includes the inauguration of new airports in five districts of the state, Azamgarh, Shravasti, Moradabad, Chitrakoot and Aligarh, the new terminal of Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, as well as the Maharaja Suheldev Rajbhar State University in Azamgarh. On this occasion, he said: “It’s Modi’s guarantee; Azamgarh will remain a bastion of development till eternity.”

Praising the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath, the Prime Minister said that in the last few years, development works worth lakhs of crores of rupees have been carried out in UP, noting the significant transformation witnessed in the infrastructure sector and creation of millions of new opportunities for the youth.

“Today UP is being recognized by record investment and ground breaking ceremonies. The state’s network of expressways and better law and order are the talking points in the country. The centuries-old wait for Ram temple in Ayodhya has also ended. With the development of Varanasi, Mathura and Kushinagar, tourism has increased rapidly in UP, benefitting the entire state. The guarantee given 10 years ago is being fulfilled today”, he stated.

The Prime Minister said that as UP continues to scale new heights of development with each passing day, the poison of appeasement is also weakening in the state. Substantiating his argument, PM Modi remarked that in the last elections, the people of Azamgarh demolished the dynasts’ notion that Azamgarh was their stronghold by electing a young man like Dinesh. “That’s why the family members are so upset. They are abusing Modi every day. They are saying that Modi does not have his own family. They forget that Modi’s family is 140 crore people of the country. Today, voices are coming from every corner of India with everyone declaring that ‘I am Modi’s family”, he stated further.

The Prime Minister appealed to people to ensure that the National Democratic Alliance crosses the 400 mark in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. He described the launch of projects in Azamgarh as a celebration of development.

The Prime Minister said: “In the past, programmes were typically organised in Delhi with participation from various states across the country. However, the current scenario sees programs being hosted in Azamgarh, attracting thousands of attendees from all over the nation. Azamgarh, once regarded as a backward area, is now spearheading a new era of development for the country.”

The Prime Minister said that earlier leaders used to make announcements that never came to fruition while today the government is inaugurating all the projects that it laid foundation stone of in 2019. He reiterated his resole to make the country ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
PM Modi said that after reducing travel time between Lucknow to Azamgarh to two and a half hours through the Purvanchal Expressway, now arrangements have been made for ships to dock in Azamgarh. Besides, with the construction of medical college and university, there is no need for the youth to travel to Varanasi to pursue higher education.

The Prime Minister lashed out at the INDI Alliance for doing caste and appeasement politics and indulging in nepotism for decades, pointing out that the development of Azamgarh today is giving them sleepless nights. He said: “This area has also been witnessing the politics of development for the last 10 years. It has gained momentum in the last seven years under the leadership of Yogi ji. The people here were witness to mafia rule and fundamentalism in the past, and today they are seeing the establishment of rule of law.”

The Prime Minister said that the planning for urbanisation in India which should have been done 30 years ago was not done. He added: “Wwe are taking urbanisation forward in the form of Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. This vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas is the basic mantra of the double engine government. Increasing connectivity is going to write a golden future for the farmers, youth and entrepreneurs of Purvanchal.”

The Prime Minister said ensuring right price for the farmers’ produce is the priority of the government. The remunerative price for sugarcane farmers has also been increased by eight percent this year. Now the remunerative price of sugarcane has increased from Rs 315 to Rs 340 per quintal, he informed. PM Modi said that previously governments tormented farmers and paid money to them after driving them to desperation. “Sugar was sold to mills at throwaway prices. The BJP government has cleared the dues worth thousands of crores of sugarcane farmers. Sugarcane farmers are getting the right price at the right time. The government has given emphasis in many other areas for the sugarcane farmers. Ethanol is being produced from sugarcane and biogas is being made from straw”, he stated.

The Prime Minister informed that about 8 lakh farmers of Azamgarh alone have received Rs 2000 crore from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, underscoring the government’s right intentions and honesty. He said that during the previous governments, Azamgarh and Purvanchal suffered from backwardness, while terror and muscle power were protected.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, BJP State President and MLC Bhupendra Chaudhary including state government ministers, MPs and MLAs were present.
